We're
Hiring: Campaigns Director

Could you lead our campaigns team?

Deadline: Monday 20 February 2012
First Interview: Tuesday 28/Wednesday 29 February 2012
Salary: £40 - £43k (negotiable for exceptional candidates)
Apply: Cover Letter and CV

In our first two years we’ve cut 750k tonnes of carbon, received over 10 front page press stories, pioneered new campaigning technology, launched a crowdfunding platform for renewable energy and grown campaigns in over 40 countries. Now we’re seeking an outstanding Campaigns Director to lead our campaigns into 2012 and beyond.

Working closely with the Executive Director as part of the senior management team, you will manage our team of four campaign staff. To thrive you’ll need to be an exceptional campaign strategist, with a proven track record, comfortable inspiring both staff and our 120,000 supporters with 10:10’s ambitious, positive and practical approach to carbon cutting.

Easily able to read the political climate, you will feel comfortable taking the reins of our existing projects from the core 10% work through to Solar Schools and political campaigns such as Lighter Later, as well as overseeing our international campaigns. You will be at ease making tough decisions about which campaigns to grow, retire and reinvent to fit the current context.

To succeed you will need an understanding of the delicate interplay between online activism and practical on-the-ground action, working alongside our celebrated web team in building our pioneering new action platform. This will combine the best of online campaigning and community building, and is due to begin roll-out in early 2012.

Comfortable representing our work to external audiences and funders of all kinds, you will be an excellent promoter of 10:10’s identity, ethos and reason for being. You will ensure that there is high impact, consistent delivery and promotion of the brand, along with coherent communications, across all our campaigns. You will understand 10:10’s appeal and have a good sense of which partners we should be working with from regional beer brewers to national media organisations.

For the right candidate this is an exceptional opportunity to build on the work of a young, vibrant and effective organisation ready to change the narrative around climate change.

Duties

  • Manage 10:10’s small but effective campaign team (currently 3.5 FTE)
  • Develop overall campaigns strategy (including our political and international campaigns)
  • Devise and manage new campaigns
  • Make public appearances across all media channels on behalf of our campaigns
  • Manage 10:10's campaigns budget
  • Work with the fundraising director to secure large donations

Requirements

  • Minimum six years campaign experience, preferably more and with experience of leading on international climate change campaigns
  • Experience developing and delivering successful campaigning strategies
  • Strong focus on external relations, communicating an organisation’s brand and achievements
  • Ability to lead and manage a strong team of campaigners
  • Good knowledge of pertinent climate change issues and the international political situation
  • Experience leading practical carbon cutting projects (such as Solar Schools)
  • Strong financial, fundraising and donor relationship management ability
  • Ability to bake and a good sense of humor

How to apply

Please send a CV and Covering Letter, preferably as two separate attachments, to jobs@1010uk.org. Please detail your previous employment history, relevant experience and academic qualifications, and why you would be particularly well suited to the role.
