Case study: the Archibald family

The archibald family

I worked really hard to cut my home's carbon emissions by 10% in 2010, but the bitterly cold winter weather scuppered this for me.

But 2011's mild winter, combined with our effort to use electricity more efficiently, have reduced the carbon footprint of our home by over 20% – more than making up for missing the target last year. Overall, our 2011 savings add up to nearly a tonne of CO2.

Global news round up

Solar spotting in Steyning

Our favourite photo of the week – solar spotting in the South Downs parish of Steyning! Check out their local 10:10 project at www.1010steyning.org

This week, we're all over two new films - one from Reading, the other from the exotic Maldives - while the Danes check out Copenhagen Fashion week's carbon credentials.

Case study: the Lawrence Family (part two)

Julia Lawrence and son on holiday in the Lake District

On holiday in the Lake District: "my son and I have scrambled up Side Pike and are feeling very impressed with ourselves."

After making some pretty drastic changes in our first 10:10 year, I thought our 12% saving would be hard to beat in year two.

But I needn't have worried – in 2011 we managed to bring our footprint down by 19%!

Here comes the sun!

It’s hard to believe, but it’s only four months since the newest addition to the 10:10 family - Solar Schools - stepped gingerly out into the sun.

For a (super cute) reminder of what it’s all about, watch the video below!

We’re thrilled to say that our schools have already raised over £70,000 to become cleaner, greener places for pupils to learn. Against the backdrop of a recession and a turbulent time in the solar industry, we think that’s pretty incredible!
